Harvest & storage

Pre-harvest care and fruit drop

The last weeks before picking, following the SKUAST guide.

Relevant stages: Pre-Harvest.

At the pre-harvest stage the guide recommends:

  • NAA at 10 ppm to control fruit drop.
  • A second foliar potassium sulphate spray, 4 to 5 g per litre, and calcium chloride, 3 to 4 g per litre, for storage life.
  • Captan 50WP, 300 g per 100 L, 15 to 20 days before harvest for fruit going into long-term storage.
  • Cut orchard grass and remove water shoots.

Always check the pre-harvest interval on the label before any late spray.

General guidance. Always read product labels and consult an agronomist for problems specific to your orchard.
