Water shoots and supporting heavy branches
Two summer jobs that protect trees and fruit quality.
Relevant stages: Fruit Development III, Fruit Development IV.
- Remove water shoots (fast upright shoots). They shade fruit and worsen disease.
- Stake or prop heavy fruit-laden branches at fruit development III and IV so they do not break.
- Check ties and props every few weeks as fruit grows.
