Mites and aphids in summer

Keeping small sap-suckers under control from petal fall to harvest.

Relevant stages: Petal Fall, Fruit Development I, Fruit Development II, Fruit Development III.

  • Petal fall: neem oil (1500 ppm) at 300 ml per 100 L for insects. Use an acaricide if there are 4 to 5 mites per leaf.
  • Fruit development I to III: Chlorpyriphos 20EC at 100 ml per 100 L, with an acaricide where mites are present (above 10 per leaf at fruit development III).
  • Keep aphids in check at fruit development III.
  • Check the underside of leaves before deciding to spray, and read the label for pre-harvest intervals.

General guidance. Always read product labels and consult an agronomist for problems specific to your orchard.
