Preparing for storms and hail

What to do when Applefy shows a storm alert.

Applefy checks the next 24 hours for thunderstorm or heavy rain and shows an alert on Home.

When you see one

  • Finish or postpone sprays. Do not start a spray you cannot complete.
  • Move equipment, ladders and bins to shelter.
  • Drain channels should be clear so water does not pond.
  • Support heavily loaded branches.
  • If you have hail nets, deploy them in time.

After

  • Inspect fruit and branches. Note damage and dates for your records.
  • Remove badly damaged fruit and trim torn wood.
  • Ask an agronomist about disease protection, since wounds invite infection.
  • See the hail recovery article for the steps SKUAST-Kashmir advises.

General guidance. Always read product labels and consult an agronomist for problems specific to your orchard.
