Spraying & safety

Sprayer calibration and good coverage

Getting the dose right and the spray where it needs to go.

Relevant stages: Flowering.

  • Dose is per 100 litres of water, so know how much water your sprayer actually uses per tree.
  • Check nozzles for wear and blockage before the season.
  • Apply in mist form rather than washing trees with sprays (the guide says this at flowering).
  • Cover the whole canopy, including the underside of leaves.
  • Spray in cool, dry periods, in the morning or evening, when leaves are dry and wind is light. A fine mist gives even coverage.
  • Clean the tank well between different products.

General guidance. Always read product labels and consult an agronomist for problems specific to your orchard.
